IPL product ranges and accessories
The main expense in purchasing an IPL hair removal treatment equipment is the machine itself of which the price can fluctuate based on the power of the machine. The more powerful the machine the more effective the treatment generally is thought to be. There are a range of manufacturers and suppliers who sell IPL machines, and because they are specialised, most of these manufacturers and suppliers are most quickly sourced via the internet. However there are accessories that you do need to purchase every so often for the IPL machine, regardless of the power or size of the machine.
To ensure your IPL machine is as effective as possible and gives the optimum result for your clients, you have to ensure that the bulbs inside are still fully effective. The bulbs can still light up even when they are not emitting full power or energy, so the treatment is not as strong or as effective as it possibly once was so it will not always be clear when they need changing.
A general recommendation for a business is to change the bulbs every 40,000 shots. New bulbs cost a few hundred pounds but are worth the investment to ensure that yours paying customers receive the best possible treatment and part of this cost usually includes fitting by a qualified engineer. It is a false economy to not change the bulbs regularly. They can be easily provided by the supplier or manufacturer of your IPL machine and usually can also be fitted by them.
You can also purchase arms to replace the wand that generally comes with the machine particularly if you complete cosmetic surgery procedures as well as hair growth removal. The arms can be articulated to various angles easily to reach the area to be treated and are sometimes easier to use for the technician.
Other small cost items including protective eyewear for you and the client to ensure no light goes near their eyes or yours, as this can cause blindness.
Sometimes manufacturers of IPL hair removal treatment say that the crystals inside the machine also need changing, but this is technically incorrect, it is the bulbs that need changing – the crystals usually last the lifetime of the machine.
There is also another way to interpret cost effectiveness – the effectiveness of the treatment has to justify the cost. IPL hair removal treatment is by far the most effective form of hair removal because if you have regular treatment over time the hair does not grow back and in many studies of results over 95% of hair treated does not grow back. This in itself is a cost effective treatment because it delivers the results it promises.
IPL hair removal is an investment, there are many cheaper forms of hair removal treatment on the market but none of them are as cost effective in length of time they last and the quality of the product they provide. IPL hair removal has a 95% average of no re-growth of hair and is nearly pain free, unlike many of its cheaper competitors.
